So many happy memories!! We love you Rexanne!!
Rexanne Dawson Newnam, 62, a longtime resident of Granville County passed away, Sunday, October 26, 2014 at her home.
A native of Lenoir County the daughter of the late Richard Jeter and Mildred Best Dawson. She was of the Methodist faith and worked for Whole Foods in Durham for many years and worked for the US Bureau of Labor Statistics for over twenty years.
Memorial Services will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, November 1, 2014 in the Eakes Funeral Chapel in Oxford by Thomas Fisler.
Surviving are her husband of forty-two years, Ray D. Newnam of the home, a daughter, Jessica Newnam-Baicy of Leesburg, VA, two sisters; Ivey Pipkin of Stantonsburg, and Richie Fisler of Hurdle Mills.
In lieu of flowers, please give donations to Doctors without Borders or APS, Animal Protection Society.
Visitation will be held Saturday, November 1, 2014 from 10:00 – 11:00 A.M. prior to the Memorial Service.

So many people loved Rexanne. The first year after someone passes we are reminded of them each time a holiday, a birthday or other significant event occurs because it is the first time we experience those events without them. I know that after a year there is a little less sadness and more happy memories of what a loving joyful person Rexanne was. Sending kind and loving thoughts and prayers to all who are thinking of Rexanne today. We love and miss you Rexanne.

I was very saddened to read of Rexanne's death in the Henderson newspaper. Rexanne was one of the smartest people I have ever known. When I was much younger and even into my college years, I really admired her wit and intellect. I know she will be greatly missed. There are no words that can comfort you at the passing of Rexanne. But as for me, whenever I see flowers, I shell be comforted by remembering Rexanne's colorful spirit, how hearing her laugh warmed my soul and her shining light will shine in me when I have days that are a little a hard to go through. Ray, Richie and Jessica, We are deeply sadden to hear the news of Rexanne passing away. She was a great part of our lives and a great mother to the many kittens she helped us rescue. Jessica, Richie and Ray, I'm so sorry to hear of Rexanne's passing. She was such a pleasure to know and I will always have the fondest of memories of her from the time we worked together. Rexanne was my dearest friend growing up. She was the smartest person in our class and the smartest person in our school with one exception, my brother, Randy. Rexanne was a ravenous reader and wrote beautiful poetry every day! She was so talented.
She and I spent a lot of time together during our teen years. I remember fondly overnight stays with Rexanne at her grandmother’s house in Stantonsburg. We did our homework together and stayed up late to watch Johnny Carson and will never forget the night Tiny Tim married Miss Vicki live on The Tonight Show --- happy memories!
